But, in terms of Independence Day, I see nothing wrong with taking advantage of the time to enjoy your family and have fun, but I don&#039;t think it&#039;s a sacred time, by any stretch. If you want to work, or are scheduled to work, that&#039;s also something to take advantage of (holiday pay is nice, too). But our allegiance, our king, our kingdom, our patris aren&#039;t the object of commemoration here, so even as our ancient Christian forebears refused to commemorate Caesar&#039;s holidays and state feasts, I would say we should join their abstinence.</description>
